Dr. Philip Tregoning
Dr. Philip Tregoning is from Carterville, IL and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Lambuth College in Jackson, Tenn. “My favorite subject was science, and I wanted a profession that would incorporate science.” Dr. Tregoning then attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Dentistry and received his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (D.M.D.) in 1993. He completed the Advanced Degree Program in General Dentistry in 1994. He belongs to the American Dental Association and Alabama Dental Association.
“Dr. T,” as he is affectionately called by employees and patients, was co-owner with Dr. Lyndon Campbell from 1994 to 2013. Dr. Campbell passed away suddenly in 2013, and Dr. Tregoning was the owner and the sole dentist at Athens Dental Services until June 2022. At that time, in early preparation for retirement, Dr. Tregoning sold the practice to Dr. Ian Haggard but still works as an associate dentist.
Dr. Tregoning and wife, Cheryl, have been married for 28 years. She’s a secondary English teacher. Dr. Tregoning and Cheryl have one son, Jack.
Dr. Ian Haggard
Dr. Ian Haggard has been with Athens Dental Services since 2021 and has been the sole owner of the practice since 2022.
Dr. Haggard is a native of Tennessee and obtained his bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Tennessee before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. During his tenure with the Marines, he was awarded meritorious recognition by senior leaders for superior performance following deployments to the Middle East, Africa, and the South Pacific. After his tenure with the Marines, he continued his education at the A.T. Still University-Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health with a focus on public health. “I discovered an appreciation of the dental arts during my service with the Marines, where I witnessed the positive impact of restoring poor oral health conditions across the world.”
Dr. Haggard is an avid outdoorsman and animal lover. He enjoys spending time with his wife Jordan, and his two dogs, blacksmithing, bowling, and cooking.
